BATHING BEAUTIES

BATHING BEAUTIES
(Not for Sale) This was my second entry for the 1st annual Recyled Art show here in Boise, ID. The box itself is an old silverware box...I found it in great disrepair and had to remove the lining from the top half. After cleaning up the box and attaching them together, it made for a great backdrop for a calendar page I had held onto for years. These four bathing beauties from the 30's or 40's remind me of a Vegas trip with my beloved girlies. A faucet found at the store Second Chance along with a crystal from Uncle Earl made for a great shower for another girl. As I do quite often, a family member of mine found her way into the box...my Amatxi Maria sits proudly in the front (one of my favorite images of her). With all the architectural elements, glass and other massive parts, this is the heaviest box made to date.

THE SWIMMER SISTERS

THE SWIMMER SISTERS
(Not for Sale) A gift made for my good friend Ashley. She was pregnant with her first child and I had wanted to make something unique for her...since she herself is such a gem. I had wanted to make something comical and sweet. These two little girls looked ready to for an adventure...much like Ashley and I during the summer that we fell for eachother.

UNTITLED (Huy)

UNTITLED (Huy)
(Not for Sale) This Christmas gift was a labor of love. This book had been saved for just the right project as I really thought it was lovely. The hand found in a local coffee shop was an odd yet masculine find for this box. A church visited in Zaragoza two years ago was printed on a transparancy...the first attempt at this technique, and one I plan on using again. Disassembling a watch proved to be quite fun and a nice touch to this gift. Discarded jewelry, metal leaves and hemp rope tied the theme together...held in place with rustic copper nails.
